Our History

1st Generation

Brandt Industries was founded in 1958 by Donald Brandt as a one-man tool and dye shop in Skokie, IL. In 1970 Brandt Industries moved to Palatine, Illinois and began its business in custom injection molding. Donald and his wife Myra played a driving force in the evolution of Brandt Industries to make it the successful company it is today.

2nd Generation

Donald and Myra’s son, Richard Brandt, grew up learning the business and watching his parents build Brandt Industries, eventually following in the footsteps of his parents to evolve the brand. In 1995 Container Accessories was launched as an expansion of Brandt Industries. Richard wanted to go beyond just custom injection molding, so he began engineering and patenting his own proprietary products. When Donald stepped down in 2000, Richard took over Brandt Industries and by 2010 had merged with Container Accessories to Container International – A Division of Brandt Industries.
As Container International approaches its 60th anniversary of serving the container industry, Rick Brandt understands the importance in reinvesting in the company—he is committed to adding 3 to 5 presses each year and is currently constructing a new state-of-the-art facility in Crystal Lake, IL.

3rd Generation

The family business doesn’t just end with Richard Brandt; today his three children all play key roles at Container International. Nick Brandt, the oldest of the three children, is a Project Manager and leads research and development at Container International. Nick also played an integral part in designing the new facility in Crystal Lake, IL. Richard’s two daughters Melissa and Tina are both very involved in the day-to-day operations at Container International. Melissa holds the title of Secretary/Treasurer and works with Accounting and Human Resources while Tina is responsible for Customer Service and Sales. Having a deep appreciation for the business, the Brandt children fully understand the need for innovation and continuous improvement and are dedicated to making Container International the leading container brand.
